　　OPERATIONS: SUMMER ANALYST

　　Operations is the front line of defense for Morgan Stanley's financial well-being. One of

　　the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities including correctly

　　settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all

　　operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology

　　to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. We continually seek ways to improve

　　while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.

　　Placement and duration

　　Summer Analysts are part of an eight-to-ten-week program from July to September.

　　Placed within a specific group best aligned to your skills, you will receive a thorough understanding of the

　　business. In addition to being assigned certain responsibilities of a Full-Time Analyst, during the summer you will

　　also take on project work as directed by your manager. These projects are aimed at proposing a solution to an

　　existing business challenge and will be presented to a senior audience.

　　Training program

　　Summer Analysts participate in a firmwide induction day with an overview of our business,

　　its structure and strategy. The day also focuses on the interpersonal skills required to successfully transition

　　from a campus to corporate environment. Throughout the program, Summer Analysts complete a structured

　　program with guest lecturers from Operations and other divisions, and will have the opportunity to participate

　　in networking, social and charitable events, to better understand our firm, our staff and our values.

　　Summer Analyst with strong performance over the program will be offered to join our 2013 Full Time

　　Operations Analyst program upon graduation in 2013.

　　Responsibilities

　　· Trade Capture, enrichment and confirmation, position reconciliation: learning and performing processes

　　for key steps in the life cycle of a trade, from deal capture to the final settlement of each trade.

　　· Data mining, Business analysis, modeling /reporting and documentation: preparation and compilation of

　　daily/weekly/monthly metric dashboards, ability to recognize deficiencies or improvement opportunities and

　　recommend best practices based on prior experiences.

　　· System testing: utilize systems effectively and efficiently to mitigate risk; develop strong relationships with

　　IT colleagues to design, develop and test /implement technology platforms.

　　· Collaborate with the team to complete daily tasks, share market and systems knowledge, develop best practice

　　methodologies for business analysis, issue follow up and escalation.

　　· Develop relationships with clients, understanding the priorities of stakeholders and ensuring that the

　　program meets the needs of the business, protecting client confidentiality and addressing ad-hoc requests

　　in a timely fashion.

　　Qualifications /skills /requirements

　　· You are in your penultimate year at university with a 3.4 cumulative GPA, set to graduate by July 2013.

　　· You have excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

　　· You pay close attention to detail and have strong analytical, problem-solving skills.

　　· You are results-orientated, with drive and determination.

　　Interview process

　　Following resume review, candidates will be invited to attend a testing session. First-round

　　interviews will take place over the phone, and final-round interviews will take place at Morgan Stanley offices in

　　Shanghai and can include a number of interactive sessions from interviews and group exercises. Assessments focus

　　on the motivations, technical skills and past experiences of students. To prepare, you are encouraged to review the
